INVESTIGATING OPPRESSIVE LANGUAGE
Black lies. White lies. Why should the lies that are crass and all out to deceive be black? Or the lies that are harmless be white? I wonder. By implication does that mean white people – high castes and the whites - can tell only white lies or only black people (dalits and Negros) tell only black lies? The language we speak innocently carry an oppressive bias. About a 25 percent of the words and phrases in English language carries this oppressive bias some form or the other. Often these biases are filtered into our unconscious self creating an oppressive psychology.
